Any wool will make into a wreath. Use the hook size that corresponds to the weight of wool used. For the large wreath, pictured above, use t-shirt yarn and a 10mm hook. An additional hook (or pen) is is needed to hold stitches during the join.

Special stitches

I chord stitch.

Using an I chord stitch, with a starting chain of 5, this stitch is repeated until desired length and joined on the wrong side to complete.

Ch 5. Draw up a loop in each chain and keep them on the hook.

Whilst holding onto the base of the loops, (particularly the last two), gently draw the tail towards the first loop.

Draw up a loop using this tail in each of the five loops.

Continue until you have the desired length

Turn work over and slip loops onto another hook ( or pen).

Holding the slipped loops in front, drop one loop, insert original hook into that loop and then into the corresponding chain at beginning of work. Draw up a loop and pull thru all. Repeat process for remaining 4 loops. Tie off and weave in ends. Attach a bow if desired.
